Sturgeon County Bounty

Sturgeon County Economic Development launched the Sturgeon County Bounty initiative in 2010 developing a value-added agriculture strategy. The Bounty is designed to connect the food producers and processors in Sturgeon County with each other as well as up the value-chain to chefs, restaurants, distributors, wholesalers, retailers and consumers in the Alberta Capital Region. One of the ways the Bounty is promoted is through taste experiences during major events in Sturgeon County. The Bounty taste event ran in October 2010 at Prairie Gardens and July 2011 at the Edmonton Garrison during Canada Day festivities. The Bounty returns to Prairie Gardens in October 2011 with more events planned for 2012. During taste events, dishes are prepared for the public sourcing as many local ingredients as possible and provides Bounty members an opportunity to discuss their operations and products.
